Since the start of this century, K.I. Kampen is visiting farms in Portugal. Most people will think about holidays when they hear Portugal, but dairy is a very serious and professional business in this country. K.I. Kampen is active in het Alentejo region. The herdsize is pretty big. The K.I. Kampen customers in this region on average milk 350 cows.
The K.I. Kampen bulls that are used in Portugal are more or less the same as the K.I. Kampen bulls in the Netherlands. The dairy farmers are interested in reliable daughter proven bulls. There is some demand for genomics bulls as well. Especially the genomics bulls with a different aAa code are interesting for some of the customers. Like in the rest of the world; in Portugal the beef on dairy segment is growing. Of course the K.I. Kampen easy calving Belgian Blues are very popular to do the job. In Portugal, Aberdeen Angus is still very popular too.
